This female was located just prior to a rain storm. She was already busy with her egg laying and paid little attention to her surroundings. Hence, the successful photo.

A slight close up of this busy female. Note the ovipositor splintering the twig. The egg damage done by the Tibicen is almost completely unnoticeable and their numbers are so few, that they are seldom considered pests.
